
Inside the Sunlike Infrared Heater: Power, Heat, and a Small Footprint
We built the Sunlike infrared heater to be a compact powerhouse—high-density heat packed into a tight space, made for industrial machines that can’t afford to wait around. The design is shortwave, so it responds fast. On moving lines, that means you get tight thermal control without lag. Typical units run at 400V and draw 2500W from a 300mm tube. That’s a lot of heat in a small footprint. Which is great—until you remember heat has to go somewhere. Plan for airflow. Add thermal shielding. If you don’t, nearby controls and sensors will bake, and that’s a headache you don’t need.
The guts: quartz, halogen, and the right connections
At the core is a halogen-filled quartz tube. Quartz holds up under extreme heat, and it transmits shortwave infrared cleanly. The halogen keeps the filament from getting dirty, so output stays steady over time—no blackening, no sudden dips. For mounting, we use R7s end caps. That means installation is straightforward: a tool-free drop-in replacement in most standard reflector fixtures. If your machine uses a different socket, we’ve got SK15 options too, so you can match the spec without rewiring the whole setup.
Where it shines: speed, control, and staying up and running
These heaters are made for processes that demand a quick heat-up and precise zone control—think PET blowing, plastic preheating, and other line-driven work. Because shortwave response is fast, you can run tight duty cycles. The heat comes on when you need it, and backs off without overshooting. It’s a feeling of control—like your line is finally moving at its own pace, not fighting the heat. The compact size also makes integration and service easier. You can slip it in, swap it out, and get back to work. But here’s the trade-off: high heat density means you’ve got to think about thermal management from day one. Spec the cooling and guarding up front, and you get repeatable heating with fewer surprise stops. Do that, and the heater does its job quietly and reliably—just heat, when you need it, where you need it.
